Alright, this WordPress error has come up twice so I thought it might be confusing to others as well. If you are installing WordPress on your domain and using cPanel’s Fantastico you might encounter this:
The installation cannot be completed:
- You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.
The answer is quite simple. First, of course, make sure that you don’t have anything already installed in that domain. If you don’t and are still getting that message you need to do the following:
1. login to your ftp
2. find folder .fantasticodata
3. find file “installed_in_root.php” and delete it.
You see, Fantastico creates that file to keep you from installing multiple scripts in the root directory. Even if you make sure your root directory is empty, that file still may show that something is or was in it. Delete the file and you are on your way! (at least until you get the next error message)
You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain
I can’t add your post to Digg. How I do this?
You have to have a Digg account first. Then click on the Bookmark icon, and then on the Digg icon, and then fill out the Digg info.
How much does it cost links on your blog (Blogroll)?
I’m a newbie in working for my website and I encountered such problem. Thanks for the tip.
