How To Make Money From Home | Ways To Make Money

Squidoo = Free Passive Income

You might have read that Google “slapped” Squidoo about a month ago. What does this mean? Well to me it meant that one of my lenses that was getting about 20 views a day is now getting 1 to 2 views.  I was making about 1 sale a week from that lens and now nothing at all. Oh well….I guess the Gods at Google decided there was too much marketing and too little real information being disseminated on the thousands of Squidoo lenses.

Does this mean that you should give up on Squidoo or never start? NO WAY. Just because they took a downturn last month doesn’t mean they will always be buried in the Google sandbox. All I have to do is put more effort into them by adding more content and making them better.

I had about 3 lenses that were getting between 70 to 120 views a week and now they are probably getting that number for all three combined. I haven’t spent nearly as much time or effort as many people have but my lenses still managed to make around $8.00 last month from Squidoo profit sharing. And that money was passive income as I have not updated those lenses in months!

Squidoo then, is clearly another great way for someone to make money on the Internet without having to have a website. If my three lenses make $8 or so a month then think how much someone could make with 100 lenses. And how about 100 lenses that are carefully planned and laid out with nice pictures, videos, and verbiage? Make a very nice lens every day for 100 days and just sit back and enjoy the income!

Squidoo is free and that is the best part. It will take you some time and effort to learn the ropes and figure out what works best for you but once you do you can build an unlimited number of lenses on virtually any topic. I have heard there are people with over 200 lenses and I sure wish I could find out how much they are making. If you throw in some affiliate products in the mix I am sure it is a nice chunk of change and makes for a good work from home job.

Tiffany Dow has a great Ebook called Social Networking on Squidoo that comes with both video and audio. You can find her videos on YouTube as well as she has made Squidoo her passion.

Maybe you should read the very first sentence of my post. And then continue on and finish reading the whole first paragraph.

One of my Squidoo lenses was on the top 100 for most of the year. That lens hit #2 on the list of ALL the lenses.

I took a hit from Google’s actions. Not because I was making a great income from the Squidoo, but because it was full of affiliate programs and linked to many of my blogs (Adsense $$). I was listed number 3 on the first page of Google. Now they buried my lens on the 9th page.

While I used to have and as neighbors on Google’s first page for that specific term, John and I have been moved further in the search engine. It hasn’t really done nuch to his income, but it’s really effected me.

Oh well, back to the drawing board…

    Hi Bruce,
I am actively following your posts since few weeks and I really appreciate your work to put the different money making ideas here..

I have a question for you. I have recently created a blog with niche affiliate links and it has around 30 keyword specific articles. How do I increase the traffic to this blog via Squidoo/ Craigslist/ Article Directories?

1 Should I copy the exact same article and make squidoo lens or publish in article directories and link back to my blog? Is that taken as Duplicate content?

2 Any others ways to increase the traffic? My blog mainly has Clickbank products.

    Appreciate your feedback.

If you can, rewrite your articles at least somewhat to make them different from the ones on your blog. This takes more time but then you don’t have to worry as much about duplicate content.

Put as much as you can on your Squidoo lens. It seems the more you put on them the more likely they are of being seen by people. If you look at the Squidoo top 100 lenses they all have tons of info on them. I get real lazy with mine and as a result only have a few that get any regular visiters.

See my posts on Craigslist as you can definitely get some traffic from them

    DJN, Hi

This Squidoo Lens thing look interesting… is it still worth doing as a newbie, or have I missed the boat? It sounds like the returns will now be pretty low, but possibly worth doing if it’s one of your main focuses, and you build up the content over a lot of different (or related?) Lenses… is that true?

Squidoo is free and all you can lose is time. Make as many lens as you can and every once and a while you will make a sale out of the blue. It’s great for someone who wants to make some money without investing anything at all.

I’m not sure why you are linking to a very advanced site in your sig?

As a freelance writer advising others I always make a point of checking for reviews of every new site I write for so thanks, yours was the first I found and was really helpful.

Do you think the subject matter counts? Did this google slap affect all content? I’m interested because my squidoo lens details our diary of enjoying London almost for free or for less.

Thanks from another day job nuker!

Squidoo, Hubpages and others are just there for backlink purposes. Not to say you have to spam them to death with some cheap pages. I’m sure people do read it but as far as making money is concern, very little cash will come out of it. You are probably better off putting adsense on your blog.
