Bloggers, Are You Addicted To Your Stats?

If so, you better not use HitTail because it may make your addiction worse. HitTail is free and it will show you in real-time where your hits are coming from. As you can see in the image below, it shows you the time for each hit and the source URL. (sorry but the blog screen is not wide enough to show it all) It is updated every 20 second or so and can become more addicting than looking at any other stat I have found because it is live.

The real purpose of HitTail is to find long tail keywords for you. You can see some of them in the bold black and those are the search terms used to find my website. I haven’t gotten around to using this part of it yet but it highlights all the search terms for you and displays them in another screen – very handy indeed.

If your posts ever get any heavy traffic, it is especially fun to watch the hits come in live. You do need to put some code in your blog to make it work but other than that it is very easy to set up. Once you do, I doubt you will ever get rid of it.

I spend about 3 hours a day just going over my stats. I can safely say yes, i am addicted to my stats. Analytics is the best, i think it might be even better than the tool you mentioned. Keep up the good work, im a subcriber to this blog, great work.
