What Does It Take To Make Money Online?

This is a great guest post by Jackie Lee and it discusses something that can benefit many of us (me included). Read on to see if you are guilty of making the same mistake. Also, I am always open to new guest posters so read about it if you are interested.

This is a question I have asked over and over. I have had some success with a number of different programs. Where I get jammed up is receiving substantial (covering the cost of bills) money REGULARLY. It’s all fine and good to receive 3500 dollars, but when it’s only once in a while and I don’t know when the next one’s coming it makes it difficult to keep up with things.

As I was pondering this question I looked at my internet marketing strategy  and took stock of everything I was involved in. In fact, I made a list. When I looked at the list it was no wonder I was not having any consistent success. My list had 28 things (that I could remember off the top of my head) on it. That’s 28 things that needed promoting, or daily attention to be affective.

I’m only one person, and I have a toddler to take care of. It’s no wonder I was just sitting at my desk reading through email. I had no idea where to put my focus and attention. This list was a catalyst! I decided to overhaul my business plan and see what I could do to streamline and focus my business.

Here’s what I did. I decided to make decisions, be bold. I threw out almost all of what I was doing. I decided to save two programs, and my coaching. I also streamlined my marketing. Instead of doing a little bit of everything I am now doing one thing, and putting all my attention, effort and focus on that one thing.

I decided all this on a Wednesday. Here’s what happened by the end of Sunday:

2 New coaching clients
3 New business partners
1 New person in my Gifting Program

and it still keeps coming! This is the most movement I have seen in ages.

Now when people ask me what it takes to make money online, I know just what to say: focus and consistent daily action. Pick one or two things you really love and focus on them. Create a website marketing strategy that make you excited to get to the computer in the morning, and do THAT. That’s what it takes. It’s working for me, and I bet it would work for you.

True, the big bucks are nice to see on a paycheck, but if you can’t count on it then your life becomes that much more stressful. I find focusing on the 80/20 rule to be helpful… focus on 20% of the action to get 80% of the result.
