Goodbye John Chow Forever – Hello Blogger Unleashed!

10/1/09 Update: Please see Vic’s new site Success Coach which has just been launched. I am sure you will learn a thing or two in the months to come.

Aren’t you tired of reading and seeing what John Chow eats? Aren’t you tired of reading his stupid reviews that he gets paid $400.00 dollars for (he just raised it to $450.00) only because you keep reading them? Aren’t you tired of signing up under him for different programs and making him money while you make none? Don’t you get it that he is laughing all the way to the bank at YOUR expense?

If you want to learn how to make money on the Internet I suggest you drop the John Chows of the world and go to Blogger Unleashed. Seriously, I mean it and THIS IS NOT A PAID REVIEW.

Vic at Blogger Unleashed is not for the faint of heart. He is, however, for anyone who wants to learn how the Internet and search engines work and who wants to make money. Vic’s writing style is, well, there is no way to sugar coat this, it’s primitive and blunt. But that’s his style and he doesn’t give a sh__ what anyone thinks. If you have a problem with a few (sometimes many) four letter words thrown in to a sentence then you better stay away.

But staying away may be a big mistake if you really want to learn how to make money on the Internet. Blogger Unleashed is only a month old and already has over 600 RSS subscribers! That tells you that apart from being extremely entertaining, he is also giving away some very valuable information. Make sure you read all the comments after each post because that is where much of the action is. He responds to virtually every comment and he does much of his teaching there.

I won’t list the different topics he has already covered. You need to go check them out yourself. I absolutely guarantee you that if you can get by the language, you will learn something worth learning there. This is a money making blog on steroids and you better check it out before it is banned for substance abuse. Blogger Unleashed has already been hacked once and I think there are more than a few people who would like Vic to shut up and stop giving away the secrets.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll give him a looksee … however, and this is also an unpaid review … I think you’re selling John Chow a little short. John tells a lot of valuable information on how he really makes money .. problem is, most people don’t bother to actually read much of it.

Many of us are tinkering around the edges, making a few bucks here and there while John is earning a signifcant income online, and I’m not talking about his blog … that is just a sideline.

yes, I’ll certainly agree the food reviews get alittle boring and John really needs help in the picture taking department, but all that stuff is what he does for relaxation from his real job. (and fear not, I won’t be getting any payola from him for writing this, MOF I doubt John even knows my name.

Be well, and I will look at blogge runleased, and thanks for the unpaid eview … refreshing.

Here is a question for you. Do you think John Chow has made you more money or do you think you have made him more money? I think if most bloggers look at that question objectively they will answer that THEY have made John Chow more money.

Blogger Unleashed will make YOU MORE MONEY.

Great review and I can completely agree with you! Vic is not for the easily offended or faint of heart, but that is fine. If you are either, then chances are you won’t like what he has to say and that’s fine too!

Just means more niches and stuff for me to find and make my money!

Dave John Chow is worthless just as Problogger these guys keep you buying there affiliate stuff and getting you to join Agloco but yet they do not tell you the real deal. I bet you where one of the DF that joined Agloco because John Chow told you to. Yeah great tip there ;)

Bruce dude thanks for the kind words just hope peeps figure out what we are trying to do and all the folks that are trying to get an online business going finally get a real shot.

I still read Chow but just to see what he had to eat. But seriously, I think many people overlook the fact that Chow and Problogger had other successful business ventures going before their moneymaking blogs..Correct me if I’m wrong there, they didn’t become rich from the ground up with their make money blogs. I’m subscribed to both Vic and Chow, but have found more valuable info from Vic and Courtney Tuttle’s blogs.

Yea Vic is the real deal. I have been reading his blog for about a week now and it is probably one of the best ones out there.

    Hi Bruce,

I’m all for the fab 3 myself (Vic, Griz and Court) They are rocking the boat and changed the way I was looking at the Probloggers of this world (never had much for JC anyway):-)

I don’t believe John Chow is as bad as some make him out to be. Granted you have to dig for the gems amidst the dirt on his blog, but to discount him entirely is a little overly hostile, imao.

As for Vic at Blogger Unleashed. Yeah he has a good blog, nay excellent blog, but from my experience he doesn’t handle a little criticism to0 well. Which in my mind is just as important as how well he writes a blog.

Regardless nice review and I’d encourage anyone to at least check out his blog.

My original question still stands: Do John Chow’s readers make him more money or does he make his readers more money by helping them?

    DayJobNuker on January 3rd, 2008
  • 12

Neither one of them makes their readers money. If you do or don’t make money at anything it’s all on YOUR shoulders. You can’t blame or praise anyone for making you money or helping you make money. Because ultimately it’s what you put into whatever methods you try.

In answer to your question yes his readers make him money and he helps them make money. Now if it’s an issue of “fairness” then no it’s not fair. If his numbers are accurate Chow easily makes a 1000 times more than his readers each month. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t help them make money.

Personally the only thing I’ve signed up for under John Chow was Kontera and I dropped it. After reading an article by him how to help maximize the revenue I put it back in and guess what? I’m actually making some money from it. Not rich, but his post is “making me money”

    A Blog about Nothing:

The fact is your issue is not one or the other. Your issue is on your first comment Vic doesn’t handle a little criticism to well.

LMAO Son go stroke John Chow and move on.

    Vic -

I think we can both agree that you’ve just proved my point beyond a shadow of a doubt, boy. Or are you having trouble understanding where I’m coming from?

See I can play internet tough guy just like you can, son.

A Blog about Nothing on January 3rd, 2008
  • 15

Well it is but obvious if one tries to make money using other to join the networks what’s wrong in that.. it is his marketing techniques which are returning him the income… if one is capable of doing so appreciate it rather than critisizing…if u too are making money then u too should be critisized isint it?… just keep up ur marketing strategies and earn good that’s all i want to say

    Nadim on January 3rd, 2008
  • 16

And Vic not to belabor the point, but you do not handle criticism well. You were just fine until I posted something that was slightly critical of blogging zoom. After that you became a sniveling little jackass. If you don’t mind me shooting you straight, son.

And with that I’m done. Good post, and Vic has a good blog but he’s still a little snotty brat.

Well I think A Blog about Nothing pretty much said what I was going to say and then some.

First to whomever made the crack about joining AGLOCO, I never joined AGLOCO … in fact one of the things John Chow and I have publicly disagreed on in several forums are the motives of the people behind AGLOCO, their sneaky Chinese business incorporation, etc. I’ve blogged about it months ago as well.

But to dismiss a blogger with the recognized success of John, while at the same time talking about learning how to make money online is like rejecting free golfing lessons from Tiger Woods because you hate Buick’s. Tiger can play golf and John can make money online … this a business, not a personality or dating contest.

I have also read and learned a lot from Darren Rowse over three plus years now as well. I’d submit he knows a lot more about making money online than either you or I, as measured by his income … the only score that really matters.

I’ve never been in any affiliate venture with either of them.

Neither Vic nor John nor Darren has ever made me any money nor will any of them make me any money unless they become my employees/affiliates in the future … a prospect that seems rather remote.

I’m not sure if I would have used the term “snotty brat’ myself, but it certainly rings true. Usually when someone puts up a blog and allows comments s/he at least allows an honest exchange of opinions … but not here, where the tag line should be, “accept my opinion or else”.

So, revel in your opinion, there will be no further discussion from me, i don’t need the snarkiness.

And by the way, it’s Jeremy Schoemaker who has made the deliberate mis-use of the simple English words there, their and they’re a trademark … you seem to be copycatting him pretty consistently … I heard he pursues trademark infringement enthusiastically.

    Be well
    Dave

Vic might seem like a jackass and just maybe he seems not to take criticism well but from what I have learnt from him, he has good intentions in teaching. Making money is of course at the end of the day up to you to take action, but there are always people who can make money just like JC and DR and that is by peddling nonsense like riding their readers like idiots cos they’re watching him growing grass with his blog.

    yc on January 4th, 2008

Don’t misunderstand. Vic gives great advice and he’s very helpful. But as a person from what I’ve seen of him online, he’s an ass

    Blog about Nothing,
You are beginning to become an ass so it is time stop it before you embarrass yourself more.

    DayJobNuker on January 5th, 2008
  • 25

I’m really not concerned whether you or anyone else thinks I’m an ass. I just call it like I see it.

But let me ask you this, why is it when Vic is a jerk to people in his posts he’s “not for the faint of heart”, but when the same thing is given back to him it’s a problem?

A Blog about Nothing on January 5th, 2008
  • 26

It’s amazing how a blog post comment thread can get personal. I think Vic comes from a good place with a ton of passion for what he does. I have gotten more useful stuff from his and Court’s blog than all the so-called “A-listers” combined. Just look at the number of comments on any of Vic’s posts and that tells the story. He’s offering his valuable time to help us, so don’t diss him.

Mike Pedersen Golf on January 5th, 2008
  • 27

I would have to second Mike’s comment here too. Yes, Vic doesn’t give a f…but then why should he? He is clearly concerned about helping his readers achieve success.

He provides all this info free of charge and he doesn’t peddle aff product after aff. product either. Another thing, I can understand why Vic is so ticked off with all the a-list bloggers. He might be rude for some, but in reality he is a caring person who simply wants to help and hasn’t got time to waste on naysayers.

That is how I see it and even though I don’t swear and don’t like to engage into arguments, I still feel this has to be said.

On another note, I talked to Vic a couple of times already and never ever did he use one swear word.
I’d say it is a combination of marketing, branding and truly being pi…. off at all the garbage that is being told online that is the resulting Vic we have come to know and love (at least some of us).

Anyway, I felt this needed addressing and readers can either take it, or leave it as they please. :-)

John Chow really isn’t what it used to be. I loved his evil tricks, but now it’s just paid reviews and guest posts, and the only time John Chow writes a post himself is when he goes to a cool restaurant. (So the problem with JohnChow.com is actually the lack of John Chow.)

Unfortunately I haven’t found anything I liked at BloggerUnleashed (at least not yet.)

Thanks for the heads up on this blog. I’m alerting my readers to it also, via this week’s SUnday Seven.

  • 30

“My original question still stands: Do John Chow’s readers make him more money or does he make his readers more money by helping them?”

It’s just the rich getting richer. A-listers get guest posts, more comments, social media help because people want to help the rich guys to become “noticed”.

I still don’t think there’s anything wrong with John Chow. I read people slagging him left and right saying they can do a better job but it’s HARD to come up with a money making idea everyday. And so these new blogs fail within 3 months if not sooner.

I do find value in his price points for advertising so I can scale it to my own blog when I get serious about monetization.

Anyways, thanks for the tip, will give Blogger Unleashed a try.

    mariam on January 6th, 2008

Mariam this is not about just making you money with a tip this is about making you lose time and money. I would like to remind you John Chow is the same guy who peddled Agloco knowing full well this business model has never worked and he knows this well because he participated the first time the same people tried to do it. But yet he still sold the idea because he knew the heard mentality would get all his readers to sign up under him and even though it would fail because he was on top of the pyramid his readers would not see a cent but he would.

People that do not get are idiots period.

    Hey Vic,

I got bit by John Chow with the Million Dollar Wiki…

Seemed like a good idea at the time. So I agree that he has many fingers in many pies – no denying that.

That being said, I know it was my fault but if you strip down the herd mentality of “great post, John”, I do give him props for his marketing efforts.

You make some terrific points. I completely agree his posts as of late have been completely useless, but he still had to get there somehow. I’ve checked out BloggerUnleashed as well, seems to be a great site, I think I’ll be subscribing. :) More people need to do unpaid reviews, I think I’m going to do one shortly just because of this post.
