10/11/08 UPDATE - I have since taken the ScratchBack widget down as it was no longer make any money at all. It was a novelty at first but now readers are blind to it and so I think not as many advertisers are willing to pay for a spot on it. My original post is below.
Look over at my ScratchBack widget on the right and you will see all my Top Spots are now taken. I think that is proof enough that ScratchBack works. I started out at $1.00 per spot, raised it two $2.00 after a few people purchased spots, and now I have it at $3.00. I’ve made over $30.00 in about a months time. (and I just got paid via PayPal)
Most of the people are linking to affiliate programs and I know some people have had great success with that strategy. A good post on exactly how to do that can be found at Make Money For Beginners.
The dilemma you face when putting the widget on your site is how much to charge per spot and how many spots to put up. The third option is you have the choice between having the spots stay up for a set time period or each new purchase goes to the top and bumps everyone down. I started with 5 spots and then went to 10 spots to give everyone who purchases a spot longer time up on the board. When the 10 positions were filled I added five more to give everyone even longer.
I think I will keep it at 15 as that looks about right. ScratchBack is free to join and you get paid via PayPal when you have over $20.00 in earnings. If you haven’t already I would give it a try. A lot of these new blogging brainstorms come and go (BlogRush anyone?) but this one looks like it is here to stay. ScrachBack works!

Glad you like the service! Thanks for posting your success. We love reading this, and you’re not alone.
You need a custom widget design though! Contact me and I’ll get the team to make you one free of charge in beta.
I’m aware of this widget for quite sometime now, but i’m scare of being penalized by google for selling links,
what do you think?
The links are “no follow” links so there is no problem with Google.
I’ve been wanting to try this out after noticing it on a number of sites. Congratulations on your success!
I can see that this can be a good way to purchase some advertising on related blogs as well. Thanks for sharing.
i have been wanting to know if this thing actually worked.. maybe i will give it a try now
Congrats on your success. I have my widget up now, I like the grpahical buttons approach myself. I’ll even design them myself if I’m asked
It will be interesting to see if anyone’s interested.
Never heard of this before. Soundslike a great idea. It may be worth trying.
Thanks for the heads up Day Job Nuker
I found ScratchBack a few days ago.
Made a few tips on a few peoples webpages.
i think it is a great service.
it’d be really nice to see a huge marketplace/community built around it, because it is all about giving.
Its been a long morning.. Thanks for giving me something interesting to read.
