This is a guest post by Lena Morrish and Dima Nikolayenko, publishers of InternetBusinessBTS.com. After years of 9-5 jobs, they started a small family business and accidentally learned about Internet Business and fell in love with it. Now they make money from home working online, around their family. There is nothing that makes them happier than to work at home together, while watching their child grow!

* * *

Most of us intuitively assume that the reason for which we desire to have our own business is only for monetary benefits. While this may be true to some extent, it is definitely not entirely so, as we humans are not always commercially driven. Somewhere, deep within us, there is the human emotional element that always pops up and eventually determines our actions and thoughts.

So, when you get down to thinking about how to start an Internet based business, what you are really thinking is how to make yourself happier.

How Difficult Is The Choice Between Being Rich And Being Happy?
If one were to conjure up a business that best showcases the human emotional complexities, it would perhaps be an Affiliate Marketing business. After all, it is a business which, the more you get involved in, the more you aspire to perform well out of the mental satisfaction that it gives you, rather than just about the cash registers that start jingling with it.

Reflecting deeply, Affiliate Marketing is one business that can give you an ideal blend of both money and happiness. That is the reason it is so immensely satisfying for those who are in to the business, that they simply cannot have enough of it!

Choices Galore To Be Made
Learning affiliate marketing and getting into the business requires sufficient choices to be made. For instance, one is that of your personal value systems that a website that you are an affiliate for, may not be in sync with. If for example, you are ardently against any form of wagering, yet happen to be an Affiliate Marketer for an online casino, that is a difficult choice you are having to make, between either going by your personal beliefs (and so listening to your heart) or going by what logic and reason tell you to do (implying listening to what your mind has to say).

Moving on to some of the other choices that have to be made, they include that of whether to build one’s own website or have someone else to do it for you. Thankfully, the emergence of numerous software packages has allowed the former option truly viable, which is what I eventually opted for anyway.

Two other important decisions required to be made included getting the most appropriate and high quality web hosting as well as marketing truthfully and honestly. Thankfully, the former decision was easily taken as the chosen software package included a brilliant hosting plan. As for the latter, I continue to always listen to my heart – which tells me to always tell people the truth, and that is why, I never make any false claims anywhere, including on my website.

So, Am I Happy Now?
You bet! I couldn’t have been a more happier Affiliate Marketer than I am now as I have all that I could have possibly asked for – giving me income through a channel that helps me maintain my work life balance, while also adhering to my moral standards. Could I have asked for more?

Yes, none of it has come very easy to me, but what in life does?

It can seem like a daunting task for the average person to try to earn money online. With scams everywhere you turn these days, it can be difficult to know whether many of the various sites and ways to earn money online are safe and legitimate. But by conducting your due diligence, reading online reviews, and not jumping headlong into opportunities that seem just a little too good to be true, you can diminish your risks when it comes to online money making. Here are some ways to make money for the average person, even if they aren’t that Internet savvy.

1) Telecommute

One of the best ways to use the Internet to your advantage when it comes to making money is by finding a way to relate it to and utilize it for your regular job. While it might not be possible to work from home full-time, you may be able to cut one or two days off your weekly commute into the office. If your employer will allow you to telecommute, even part-time, you can save money on commuting and childcare expenses as well as be able to work from the comforts of your own home.

2) Write Web Content

You don’t have to be the next Hemingway to get started writing web contact. In fact, many web content producers are average people with very little professional writing experience. Check out some of the bigger, better-known sites such as Associated Content, Helium, or Textbroker to get a feel for what’s out there. You might find yourself with more work than you have time for and being paid pretty well for doing it.

3) Photography and Video

With nonstop news services and websites, there is an almost constant need for photos and video. Nowadays you never know where a breaking news story will pop up or if you’ll be there when it does. Sports, weather, traffic related events or whatever, even if you just take your camera or camera phone along with you when you go to the store, you might be able to snap a few images for which people would be willing to pay.

4) Online Auction

For some, eBay is becoming the average person’s garage sale. They are cleaninghouse and makinggood money at the same time. This method of making money by way of the internet can be a side income or full-time employment depending on how in depth you want to get with it. It can take a bit of time to get used to and if you aren’t willing or don’t have the time to sell the items yourself, consider taking them to an eBay store where employees will do the work for you – for a price of course.

5) Resale

If you aren’t sure you want to go the eBay route, or just don’t think you have items that would sell well enough to make it worth your time, you might want to consider internet resale options. There are plenty of internetsites devoted to reselling books, CDs, DVDs, and video games. The challenge is finding the one that will give you the best price for your particular items. Consider checking out Cash4Books.net for books you’d like to sell or SecondSpin.com for CDs, DVDs or video games you’re ready to be rid of.

6) Sell Your Wares

It may not be things you already own that you want to sell, but things you are producing. From candles to clay pots and pictures to postcards, you might have a knack for making things for which others will pay money. If you aren’t particularly internet savvy, you might consider paying someone else to set up and run a website for you, and just focus on producingwhatever it is you want to sell.

7) Data Entry

Data entry work can be a great way for the average person to earn money by way of the internet. Be wary of offers that sound too good to be true though. You likely won’t be making $5000 a month doing data entry and advertisements that make such claims can be a red flag to possible impropriety. Conduct your due diligence and beware of giving out personal information when finding a reputable employer.

8) Consulting

Depending on your area of expertise, consulting can be a great way to make money on the internet. You don’t always have to be an internet genius to consult on a variety of topics with which you are familiar or have professional qualifications.

9) Website or Blog Creation

As familiarity with the internet grows, the average person is becomingmore in tune with website and blog development. At the same time, a number of companies are making it increasingly easy for people to develop their own websites or blogs. You don’t necessarily have to have an extensive IT background, or develop an overly elaborate website or blog to make money on the internet anymore. Sometimes just finding your own niche or untapped market is all it takes.

Having a second income can mean a variety of different things to different people. It is hard to deny however, the financially freeing effects a second income can have upon an individual or family. Don’t get me wrong; there will likely be a quite a bit of effort involved in developing and maintaining a second income. However, from the freedom to explore different job and lifestyle opportunities to the effects of financial empowerment, a second income can affect people in numerous ways, many of them positive.

1. Increased Confidence: One of the great aspects of a second form of income is often the increased confidence that comes with it. A second form of income may not only give you a sense of financial well -being through the extra money it creates, but it can intensify your confidence with the knowledge that you are able to create income streams for yourself – something that isn’t always that easy to do.

2. The “Walk Away” Attitude: The part I love most about a second or third income is something I like to call the “Walk Away” attitude. This isn’t to say that you should blatantly threaten to walk off a job every time something doesn’t go you way. The “Walk Away” attitude that may come with a second income applies more to you having the knowledge that if worse comes to worse, and you find yourself put in a difficult or unreasonable position, you have the ability to walk away from a job and not put yourself in a bad position financially.

3. Diversification: As with investments, a second or third form of income can add diversity to your income streams. It is typically best not to put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to stocks and other investments, and the same holds true with incomes. Diversifying your sources of income can help protect you against unforeseen loss of income or a financial emergency.

4. Security: Security ties in with diversification when it comes to a second income. If you only have one income, and it disappears, you may be left scrambling to pay the bills. However, with multiples incomes, losing one might not affect you as adversely. While your second income might not be as much as the first, it can at least help in times of temporary cash flow problems.

5. Peace of Mind/Mental Health: With added security often comes peace of mind. When you have backup forms of income, you typically won’t be as worried about possible job loss or what would happen in a financial emergency. Peace of mind can reduce stress and relieve tension when it comes to money matters, which can often be a source of anxiety in our personal and/or family life.

6. Variety in Your Work: The nice thing about a second income is that it can often create variety in your work. While you might sit in a cubicle at your 9-5 job, when you come home, your second form of income might be a refreshing, even fun activity. Whether it is carpentry, writing, working at a resale shop, or doing home repairs, many people look at a second form of income almost as a hobby rather than as work.

7. Reaching Financial Goals: Having another income can help you reach your financial goals quicker. Whether your second income comes from a spouse, a second job, or a hobby, this extra money may be put toward saving for an education, paying off bills, preparing for retirement, or a planned investment strategy.

8. More Options: Some people will tend to look at a second form of income as a slush fund or as play money. While this isn’t always the case, it is hard to deny that a secondary form of income may create more financial options. Whether shopping, traveling, paying bills, or investing, a second income can open a wider variety of choices and alternatives when making decisions related to your living situation and lifestyle.

9. Reduced Debt: While some may view a second income as extra money to be put toward a vacation or travel account, others may use the money to pay off debt. An extra mortgage payment or two every year, or reducing your credit card debt can save you hundreds, even thousands of dollars over the course of a year or years.

10. Income Growth: The great thing about a second form of income is that it may lead to a third or four form of income through increased business partnerships or networking. Depending on what your source of income might be, you may find yourself branching into other lines of business, working with new partners, or growing your business to include new areas, markets or products.

About the Author: Mark Brown is a writer for an Australian comparison website called Credit Card Compare that offers easy comparison of a range of products including the <a href="http://www.creditcardcompare.com.au/frequent-flyer-credit-cards.php"target="_blank">best frequent flyer credit cards and <a href="http://www.creditcardcompare.com.au/platinum-credit-cards.php"target="_blank">platinum credit cards that offer amazing rewards.
