The older you are the higher the chance you know that statement is false. Also, the more money you have will also increase the chance that you know it to be false. Money and fame in itself will not bring happiness and all you have to do to see that, is to look at all the miserable and out of control movie stars. They seemingly have everything and yet look how many of them get divorced, are alcaholics, drug addicts, and potential suicide victims. Money and fame surely does not seem to be working for many of them.

Money = Options

Having money does not bring happiness but it can certainly contribute to it. Money gives you options and the more options you have will usually make you more happy. Money also gives you freedom and most of us want to be free. I think it is documented that people are happier in a free country than in one that under strict government rule. That is why there is such a deep divide in the United States right now between those that want to be free and those that want the government to play a bigger role in our lives.

If you are poor and have very little, it may seem like money equals happiness. The whole concept of the state’s lotteries are predicated on the notion that your life will be spectacularly wonderful if you win the lottery. But have you noticed who plays the lotteries week after week? It is those who probably shouldn’t be throwing their money away in the first place. It is the poor and the working class who are dreaming of how happy their life would be if only they could win. The lotteries are really a tax on the poor and on those who can’t afford it.

Why Are You Looking For Money?

We are all looking for ways to make money online. Some of us think we are looking for it to become happy and others are looking for it so that they can have more options. I am one that wants it so that I can have more options. I want to be free of the office job and being able to make money online and work at home will give me more options. It will allow me the ability I desire to be able to go where I want when I want. It will allow me to work from home early in the morning or late at night, whichever one suits me at the moment. It will allow me to live my life on my terms and that will contribute to my happiness. It won’t give me happiness, but it will give me a push in that direction.

I wonder what people really want from the computer now days? There are so many people who seem to be looking for ways to make money without a job and yet I wonder what they are really hoping to find? Are they looking for ways to just make some extra spending cash or are they really looking to find a way to make significant money without working? When a Mom goes online and searches for “work at home jobs”, is she a mother who is hoping to make an extra dollar to supplement the families income or is she looking for work from home jobs where she can really make a full-time income while taking care of her children? What are all these people really hoping to find through the magic of their computer? Are they really just looking for happiness?

For an update to this post on 4/22/08 please see How I Turned This Blog Around. It seems like I can make money with this blog afterall!

I am not sure what I am going to do with this blog/website. I have asked several people and I have had mixed answers including stick with it, trash it, and try to sell it to some sucker (uhh…I don’t mean you Sucker).

One problem I have, and many others have as well, is that Google penalized me from a PR3 down to a PR0. Before I knew better, I wrote 3 paid posts and had 2 paid links from (I don’t even want to name those companies anymore). I have deleted those ads and posts over three months ago and they still have me at zero. This impacts be I believe because it lessens the amount I can sell this blog for.

From what I understand, no one knows for sure whether these penalized sites like mine will ever be given back their page rank. I contacted Google and admitted I violated their terms and told them I was taking everything down. I did take everything down but nothing has changed. It is frustrating when you see other bigger sites blatently advertising paid posts and links like it is just fine. They don’t seem to lose their page rank and they make money off the sucker newbies.

For now I am going to keep the blog and post whenever I can. My subscriber numbers will go down, as will the readership – I know that. I have no idea what I will post, when I will post, or what the quality of my posts will be. Actually, you might have noticed that both the quantity and quality of my posts have been going down this year. The bottom line is that I just don’t care that much anymore and having a blog like this is not the way to make money on the Internet. I have made money with this blog, somewhere between $250 and $300 per month, but that amount does not warrant the time spent.

I am working to change the wording of some of my past posts to get better rankings in the search engines. I really never paid too much attention to that and now I regret it. This blog makes some money by just sitting here and getting some hits from the search engines. I would love to get more search engine hits and fewer regular readers. (I want both kinds of readers but the people coming from the search engines make me more money) So far, I am having a little bit of success at getting more Google hits but I have a long way to go.

I also am not ready to give up the DayJobNuker.com name. A lot of people like it (at least that’s what they have told me) and it is a catchy .com name. It seems that even if I were to someday end this blog, the name could be used to sell an ebook or something. You know, like DayJobKiller.

I’m still looking for work from home jobs and ways to nuke my job but this blog is not the solution. Unfortunately it is taking time away from finding and working on that solution.

Here is a look at what I have planned this year. It was fun in 2007 but a few changes need to be made.

I am going to be posting a lot less in 2008. I don’t have the time to keep up with the pace I had in 2007 and I believe I was posting too frequently anyway.

I am goin to start making niche sites. I have become increasingly convinced that niche sites are a great way to make long term income. I am going to be closely watching Case Study #1 and this Adsense Niche Case Study to learn how to do it all properly. I suggest you check those two websites out if you haven’t already.

I am going to make more Squidoo lenses. Squidoo lenses are almost like niche websites and you can make as many of them as you want for FREE. I have about 15 lenses and although only half of them get regular traffic, I make about 1 affiliate sale per month on those. I do absolutely nothing to update them and they still get some traffic and make sales! You can’t beat that.

I am going to keep going with Build A Niche Store but I have gotten bored with my stores. I have never spent anything near the time I should have to make my stores better and to get them more traffic. I love the $25.00 Ebay referrals but so many people already belong to Ebay that those sign ups are few and far between. If you haven’t already, read how to get a 50% discount on your purchase of Build A Niche Store.

I am going to keep looking for more ways to make money and the best work from home jobs. I want to never have all my eggs in one basket and have a few money making endeavors going at all times.

I am going to continue to point out the ridiculous aspects of working at a job I dislike. Working in a variety of office environments allows me to see all the rediculous things that go on in the office as we all work for our silly bosses.

I have a long way to go if my goal of nuking my day job by 2010 is to be achieved. Based on what I made this year away from my job, I figure I am only about 1/10th of the way to my goal.
