You might have read that Google “slapped” Squidoo about a month ago. What does this mean? Well to me it meant that one of my lenses that was getting about 20 views a day is now getting 1 to 2 views.  I was making about 1 sale a week from that lens and now nothing at all. Oh well….I guess the Gods at Google decided there was too much marketing and too little real information being disseminated on the thousands of Squidoo lenses.

Does this mean that you should give up on Squidoo or never start? NO WAY. Just because they took a downturn last month doesn’t mean they will always be buried in the Google sandbox. All I have to do is put more effort into them by adding more content and making them better.

I had about 3 lenses that were getting between 70 to 120 views a week and now they are probably getting that number for all three combined. I haven’t spent nearly as much time or effort as many people have but my lenses still managed to make around $8.00 last month from Squidoo profit sharing. And that money was passive income as I have not updated those lenses in months!

Squidoo then, is clearly another great way for someone to make money on the Internet without having to have a website. If my three lenses make $8 or so a month then think how much someone could make with 100 lenses. And how about 100 lenses that are carefully planned and laid out with nice pictures, videos, and verbiage? Make a very nice lens every day for 100 days and just sit back and enjoy the income!

Squidoo is free and that is the best part. It will take you some time and effort to learn the ropes and figure out what works best for you but once you do you can build an unlimited number of lenses on virtually any topic. I have heard there are people with over 200 lenses and I sure wish I could find out how much they are making. If you throw in some affiliate products in the mix I am sure it is a nice chunk of change and makes for a good work from home job.

The nice thing about Squidoo is that you can put links to almost anything and not get in trouble. Unlike most article sites, you can link to any webpage which means you can directly link to the product you are promoting. Or you can link to your own website and try to get traffic that way.  If you are looking for work from home jobs, Squidoo can be a good compliment to any website to help drive traffic.

Although it is quite easy to learn how to make a lens, I did notice that you need to be patient and let each page load before you start clicking. If you click too quickly the page will not load and you will have to go back and start over.

There are many different modules you can add to the bottom of your lens  and if you poke around on the site you will be able to find many neat lenses. Some people really put a lot of effort into them! Please see the video below which guides you through making your first lens.
