In these tough financial times, Internet marketing could be one of the few jobs that is recession proof. I made the case in one of my last posts that IM might be considered one of the highest paying careers because there is really no ceiling on what you can make. It is hard to make money online but some of those who are good at it make well into six figures and some make more than a million a year. (not me though as I am still a working stiff and probably always will be)

It would depend on what type of online business model you have but one where you make tons of websites and hope to make a little from each one seems to me the type of strategy that would do well in a recession. You see, there is no limit to the amount of sites a person can have and if you have the time, patience, and skill to keep making more, you should be able to make more money even if what you make per site goes down.

If you have a brick and morter store on the corner, you are limited to what you can do to get more customers into your store. You can do all sorts of advertising and if you have the money you can build new stores. But if your sales are going down per store, building more is too risky.

With Internet marketing, each new “store” is really a blog or website which you can buy for under $10.00. All you have to get is the domain name and then it costs that same $10.00 or so per year. You can even build new blogs for free if you want using Blogger, HubPages, Squidoo lenses, or something similar. So, even if your earnings are going down per site, you can build more for little cost.

I’ve read of  some people having over 500 sites and I guess it can be kind of addicting once you get started. If you like making new websites then it is easy to get caught up in the thrill of making new ones all the time. So, if you have 500 sites and your income starts going down because of the economy, just build another 500 sites to boost your earnings back up!

When you think of some of the highest paying careers, you probably don’t think of stay at home jobs like Internet marketing. The first thing that will come to most people’s mind are actors and athletes that earn millions a year. For 99.9% of us though, becoming a Hollywood star or a big time athlete is just not reality.

Other high paying jobs we commonly think of are doctors, lawyers, dentists, airline pilots, and company CEO’s. These types of jobs usually pay more than $100,000 per year and in the case of lawyers and CEO’s they can pay in the millions. Again though, most of those jobs are out of reach of the common person as you have to have extensive training and sometimes God given abilities to succeed in those areas.

Most real jobs, whether they pay a lot or a little, come with some sort of a ceiling in terms of what you can make. Even a commission only job will probably have an upper dollor figure that would be hard to surpass. So, are there any potentially high paying jobs the every day guy can do?

Internet Marketing Is A Career

Believe it or not, one of the high paying careers you have never thought about might be one that anyone can learn how to do and can be done from your kitchen table. Of course not everyone will succeed and in fact in this career over 99% will probably fail. It is a field that is fraught with scams and misinformation and one where only the hardest workers can see through all the BS and come out the other end with a success story.

Internet marketing and making money online is something that makes some people hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. There are many ways to make money on the Internet and some people own very successful web sites that pull in big dollars. If you set out to learn this business and are serious, it can turn into one of the highest paying jobs there is.  

Again, in order to get to that level you have to work hard and be able to cut through all the make money online scams. You have to have a plan, be able to execute the plan, and also be able to improvise and learn along the way. Believe it or not, I got my very first payment from my endeavers online from CashCrate (see my CashCrate review). It was something as simple as that first check from them that made me realize not everything is a scam and it really is possible to make money online. That is what got me started and kept me going.

There Is No Ceiling

Unlike other jobs, there is no maximum dollar amount you can earn in Internet Marketing. For instance, if you are an airline pilot, your top salary is whatever you can get one of the major airlines to pay you. That is all you can make and there is not much upside after you reach the top.

If you own websites and blogs online however, you can keep adding to your portfolio and make more and more. The only limitation you face is your time and drive. You can also fine tune things to try to make more out of what you already have. Any new ideas you have along the way may also translate into more money. The world and and the Internet are fast moving and those people who have the inspiration and ideas are the ones who can cash in.

There are many ways to make money online and the truly talented individuals are able to turn Internet marketing into one of the highest paying careers. These people are really entrepreneurs as they grow their online business and enjoy being their own boss. They are highly motivated and work hard to make money in areas where most other people fail.

The barrier to entry isn’t really money as it is cheap to get started earning money online. The real barrier is having the patience and ability to see through all the scams and really believe that it is possible to make money on the Internet. After you do that, you must then also believe that it is possible for you to make money online and become a success.
